Microbial reduction of Cr(VI) in the presence of chromate conversion coating constituents – Publication

March 12, 2017 by Mariano Iannuzzi

This article shows how biological electrochemical reactions can be used to bioremediate hexavalent chromate, i.e., Cr6+ or Cr(VI), waste waters in the presence of other potentially toxic species used in chromate conversion coatings.

Filed Under: Journal Articles Tagged With: bioremediation, chromate conversion coatings, chromates, Cr6+, hexavalent chromium, microbially induced corrosion, publications, Shewanella oneidensis

Aluminum alloy corrosion inhibition by vanadates – Publication

February 18, 2017 by Mariano Iannuzzi

This article solved the puzzle of vanadate speciation in aqueous solutions and its effect on aluminum alloy corrosion inhibition.

Filed Under: Aluminum alloys, Journal Articles Tagged With: AA2024, aluminum alloys, decavanadate, inhibitors, metavanadate, publications, vanadates

The importance of Open Access

Use of the critical acidification model to estimate critical localized corrosion potentials of duplex stainless steels – Publication

February 12, 2017 by Mariano Iannuzzi

Can we use Galvele’s critical acidification model to estimate the localized corrosion resistance of engineering stainless steels?
Short answer: yes; long answer: it is complicated.
Find out more in our recent CORROSION Journal article.

Effect of Tungsten on the Pitting and Crevice Corrosion Resistance of Type 25Cr Super Duplex Stainless Steels – Publication

February 11, 2017 by Mariano Iannuzzi

Are all super duplex stainless steels alike? Does tungsten additions have an influence on localized corrosion resistance?
Spoiler: it does, and it is remarkable.

Tribute to Professor José Rodolfo Galvele

February 10, 2017 by Mariano Iannuzzi

The year 2016 marked the 40th anniversary of Prof. Galvele, critical acidification model. CORROSION Journal dedicated January’s issue (CORROSION Vol. 73 Issue no. 1) to honor Galvele’s legacy.
