HISC is the Achilles’ heel of duplex and super duplex stainless steels. In this investigation, we demonstrate the detrimental effects of both cold work (swaging) and anisotropic microstructures on HISC resistance. We believe the findings challenge the validity of the present form of DNV-GL RP F112 as a method to reduce HISC risks.
This is the first of a series of articles on the effect of nickel on the hydrogen embrittlement resistance of low alloy steels. In this paper, we investigated how nickel in solid solution in the ferrite phase affected hydrogen permeation.
This post defines submerged arc welding process and includes a very instructive video that explains the process in detail.
In this article, we investigate the inverse correlation between Volta potentials measured by SKPFM and the observed localized corrosion morphology of NAB.
In this article, we discuss materials and corrosion research topics that could have a transformative effect on the business. In particular, we discuss how scientists and engineers could push the boundaries of existing technologies, learning from the experience gained by other industries such as the nuclear, aerospace, and defense sectors.
This blog entry presents the development of the NACE MR-0175 in a historical perspective alongside research advancements in physical metallurgy and sulfide stress cracking.
