Localized corrosion

Effect of Thermal Treatments on the Localized Corrosion Behavior of Alloy 718 (UNS N07718)

December 2, 2013 by Mariano Iannuzzi

What is the localized corrosion resistance of the Nickel alloy 718 (UNS N07718) in oxidizing chloride containing environments like seawater? This articles gives some clues.

Maximum allowable service temperatures and the ASTM G48 test

November 29, 2013 by Mariano Iannuzzi

Can we use the ASTM G48 test to establish the maximum allowable temperature of a metal or alloy in an oxidizing environment like seawater?
This post discusses how the ferric chloride electrolyte of the ASTM G48 test compares with other oxidizing environments such as seawater.
