Maximum allowable service temperatures and the ASTM G48 test

Can we use the ASTM G48 test to establish the maximum allowable temperature of a metal or alloy in an oxidizing environment like seawater?
This post discusses how the ferric chloride electrolyte of the ASTM G48 test compares with other oxidizing environments such as seawater.
