Anodic polarization curves UNS N07718 (120K) in 3.5% NaCl

November 10, 2017 by Mariano Iannuzzi

This post illustrates three cyclic anodic polarization curves of the precipitation hardening nickel alloy (PHNA) UNS N07718 —with a Specified Minimum Yield Strength, SMYS, of 120 ksi— in deaerated 3.5 wt% NaCl (pH 8.0).

Cyclic potentiodynamic polarizations were conducted in accordance with ASTM G61. The potential scan rate was 0.6V/h. The direction of the scan was reversed at i = 10 mA⋅cm-2, assuring a minimum charge density of 10 C⋅cm-2.
