The Gorgon Project – Subsea Production Systems

November 14, 2015 by Mariano Iannuzzi

Located on Barrow Island, around 130 and 220 kilometres off the Northwest coast of Western Australia, the Gorgon and Jansz fields are the largest single resource development in Australia’s history and one of the largest in the world. The construction of the gas gathering system has been one of the most complex engineering challenges of the last two decades. As stated by Chevron, many components required for the projects were beyond the limits of prior industry experience and were specifically developed and qualified for Gorgon.

The video below, published by Chevron Australia, gives an excellent overview of the Gorgon and Jansz field development. The subsea production system (SPS) was entirely designed and manufactured by General Electric.
